The Zonta Club of Queenborough Inc was formed, with 21 members, in April 1999 and chartered by Zonta International on May 26th 1999.

Our Mission Statement
- To promote the objects of Zonta
- To raise funds to support local and international causes and projects, through the cooperation of each member.
- To foster camaraderie within the club and promote fellowship with the members of all Zonta Clubs in Tasmania.

Fundraising
A wide variety of fund-raising activities have been conducted. These have included at least one major event each year. In 2006 a Liz Davenport Fashion Parade proved very popular. In the previous 5 years a major fundraising event was the Great Southern Art Auction & Exhibition. Other popular fundraising events include food with fun such as progressive dinners and wine tastings.

Service:

These events have enabled us to support the Zonta International Program for an immunization campaign against neonatal tetanus in Nepal; the District 23 project to assemble birthing kits for use in Myanmar and the Solomon islands. Locally we have donated equipment to the  Marys Grange Reachout Program and assisted the Huon Domestic Violence Service in a variety of ways.

Zonta supports women's education and leadership through the following awards - Amelia Earhart Fellowship Award for graduate study in aerospace related sciences and engineering. - Jane M. Klausman, Women in Business Awards. In 2005 a student from the University of Tasmania  won the 2005  District award. - Young Women in Public Affairs Award, created to encourage women to seek leadership positions in public, government and volunteer organistations. A Friends School student won the 2002 award. The Zonta Club of Queenborough Inc contributes to these Awards and encourages local women to apply. The club also supports the Zonta International Strategies to Eradicate Violence Against Women.

Membership of Zonta Club of Queenborough includes a commitment to attend monthly meetings which are held on the third Monday of each month. In 2008 we meet at 6:15 for 6:30pm in the Rydges Conference Centre on Argyle St, North Hobart. These meetings combine business and dinner and the cost of the two-course meal with tea or coffee is $30. In order to plan for advocacy initiatives and service projects members are assigned to a committee that will meet eight or nine times a year and are expected to participate in fund raising activities.
